Vuko is a young female Western Lowland Gorilla and a beloved member of the troop at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Kent.
Born on January 8th, 2020, Vuko is the daughter of mother Viringika and the dominant silverback, Kouillou, who leads the largest gorilla group in the UK within the Palace of the Apes enclosure.
Vuko represents a vital success story for the park’s conservation efforts, as Western Lowland Gorillas are critically endangered. She is known for her playful nature and has been observed adopting a unique family behavior: she learned to eat stinging nettles, demonstrating social learning within the troop.
Her presence at Port Lympne contributes to The Aspinall Foundation’s world-renowned breeding program, helping to secure the future of this magnificent species.
