Venus is a western lowland gorilla born at London Zoo on February 8, 2024. She is the daughter of Effie and has become known for her lively, bold, and playful personality. Venus enjoys climbing, playing on ropes, and engaging in playful wrestling matches, particularly with her half-sister Juno.
Venus has inherited much of her energetic and sassy character from her mother, Effie, and is a favorite attraction within the Gorilla Kingdom habitat at London Zoo. As she grew through her first year, Venus became increasingly independent, though she maintains a strong bond with her mother. Western lowland gorillas like Venus are critically endangered, and every zoo birth—including Venus—plays an essential role in conservation and public engagement.
