A 9‑year‑old female western lowland gorilla who began life in Frankfurt Zoo and now calls Parque de Cabarceno home.
When the baby gorilla arrived on 1 March 2017, the Frankfurt Zoo had already begun planning her future. Her mother, Dian, and father, Viatu, welcomed her into a family that would thrive in a captive setting. For nearly eight years, she grew and learned among familiar faces at Frankfurt Z00, her first home.
On 24 February 2025, a new chapter opened as she joined the troop at Parque de Cabarceno. The move brought fresh scenery and a renewed sense of belonging for her, while keepers monitored her adaptation closely.
Today, she is nine years old, a mature and calm presence within the enclosure. As a western lowland gorilla—a subspecies listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN—her life in managed care helps keep the species’ genetic diversity alive for future generations.
In the quiet moments of her routine, she shows a gentle strength that reminds visitors of the importance of protecting these gentle giants in the wild.
