Vutu

Vutu was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young on January 19, 2016. She lived only four months, from her birth on September 15, 2015, until her death at Frankfurt Zoo.

Born at Frankfurt Zoo as a captive-born gorilla, she was the daughter of Dian and Viatu. Her brief life ended due to an escherichia coli infection.

Vutu spent her entire short life at Frankfurt Zoo, where she was both born and died. Her early death represents one of the challenges faced in gorilla conservation and breeding programs.
