TOK-16-01

TOK-16-01 was a male Western Lowland Gorilla born at Ueno Zoological Gardens on 12 October 2016. His parents were Momoko and Haoko, both long‑time residents of the same institution. As a captive‑born gorilla, his entire existence was linked to this zoo.

Tragically, he was stillborn, and his life concluded on the day he was delivered. The recorded cause of death is stillbirth, and he never left the facility.

The brief record of TOK-16-01 remains part of the species’ studbook, providing essential data on reproductive outcomes. Such information helps staff refine breeding strategies and improve future successes.
