Tinu

Tinu is a female Western Lowland Gorilla at Limbe Wildlife Centre. She was born on 1 January 2001, making her 23 years old. Her parents were wild, so she was not born in captivity.

She entered human care at Taiping Zoo on 18 January 2002 and stayed there until 14 April 2004. The next transfer took her to the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa, where she remained from 14 April 2004 to 30 November 2007. Since that date she has been at Limbe Wildlife Centre.

At Limbe she has adapted well to the forested enclosure and participates in daily enrichment activities. Staff use her presence to teach visitors about gorilla behavior and the need to protect wild populations.
