Shufai

Shufai is a male Western Lowland Gorilla living at Mefou Primate Sanctuary. Born in the wild in Africa, he came into human care after his early years in the forest. Both his parents were wild gorillas.

His path to the sanctuary began before 2006, though the exact details of his early rescue remain unclear. What matters is that he found safety at Mefou Primate Sanctuary in 2006.

At the sanctuary, he continues to thrive under the care of dedicated staff. As one of the gorillas calling Mefou home, he represents hope for his species’ future and the important work of primate conservation.
