Owendja

Owendja was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died on July 1, 2013. He lived to approximately 10 years of age.

Born in the wild in Gabon on November 1, 2002, he was wild-caught as an infant. Both his parents were wild gorillas.

After an early period at an unknown location, he was transferred to a private owner in July 2003. From there, he spent his final years at Projet Gorille Fernan-Vaz, where he died from peritonitis and septicemia.
