About N'Washi

N’Washi is a female Western Lowland Gorilla living at Safaripark Beekse Bergen. Born on August 25, 2009, she is 15 years old.

Born at Royal Rotterdam Zoological Gardens as a captive-born gorilla, she was transferred to Burgers’ Zoo on the day of her birth, where she spent her early years until October 2016. She then moved to Safaripark Beekse Bergen in June 2016, where she has made her home ever since.

Her parents are N’gayla and Bauwi. As a Western Lowland Gorilla, she represents one of the most critically endangered great ape subspecies, making her presence in conservation breeding programs valuable for the species’ future.
