Nkoumou

Nkoumou is a male Western Lowland Gorilla living at Bristol Zoo Project. He was born on 8 April 2009 at Howletts Wild Animal Park, making him a captive‑born individual.
His mother is Boma and his father is Djanghou, both part of the same European breeding program. From birth he remained at Howletts until October 2020, when he was transferred to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park. After nearly six years there, he moved to Bristol Zoo Project on 23 June 2026.
At Bristol, he is integrated into the resident gorilla family, where his calm temperament and social curiosity help enrich group dynamics. His health is monitored closely, and he participates in the zoo’s educational outreach, allowing visitors to learn about western lowland gorilla conservation.
