Niky

Niky is a male Western Lowland Gorilla living in the Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabrceno. Born on 1 January 1987, he is 37 years old in 2024.

He was taken from the wild as an infant in Guinea; both of his parents are recorded as wild. His first recorded caretaker was a private owner from 1 March 1988 until 19 April 1991.

On 19 April 1991 he moved to the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, where he spent sixteen years. The next transfer occurred on 28 April 2007, when he arrived at his present park and has remained there ever since.

Studbook number 1174 lists him as an alive, non‑captive‑born male in the European breeding program.
