Mongomo

Mongomo was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young in 1986. He lived for only three months, from his birth on June 28 until his death on September 29.

Born at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, he was captive-born to parents Ndengue and Copito de Nieve. His father, Copito de Nieve, was the famous albino gorilla who became an icon of the Barcelona Zoo.

Mongomo never left his birth zoo, spending his entire brief life at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona. His death was caused by cranial trauma, ending what might have been a long life contributing to Western Lowland Gorilla conservation efforts.
