Mintha

Mintha is a female Western Lowland Gorilla at Apenheul Primate Park. She was born on 1 April 1974 in Cameroon and, like her parents, was wild‑born.

She arrived at Apenheul Primate Park on 28 February 1975 and has remained there ever since. Decades in the same facility have made her a familiar and gentle presence for both caretakers and visitors.

Based on her 1974 birth date, Mintha is about 50 years old. Her longevity highlights the high standard of care provided by the park’s staff and the importance of maintaining healthy habitats for western lowland gorillas.
