Merah (Patty)

Merah, also known as Patty, is a female Western Lowland Gorilla born on May 9, 2015 at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. She was captive‑born to mother Madini Thamani and father Lash, both listed in the international gorilla studbook.

She spent the first nine years of her life with her family group at Jacksonville Zoo, where she grew up in a social troop and participated in regular enrichment programs. On May 29, 2024 she was moved to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, joining a small troop of conspecifics at the new facility.

Her studbook number is #2205, linking her to the managed breeding program that supports the long‑term health of the species.
