Mary Zwo is a female Western Lowland Gorilla at Saarbrücken Zoo. She was born on 18 May 2007 in Allwetterzoo Münster. Her mother is Gana and her father is N’kwango, both recorded in the European studbook. Mary was captive‑born and carries the studbook number #1939.
After a brief start at Allwetterzoo Münster, she was transferred to the Zoologisch‑Botanischer Garten Wilhelma on 2 July 2007. Three years later, on 8 March 2010, she moved to Zoo Zürich, where she remained for over fifteen years. On 7 April 2025 she arrived at Saarbrücken Zoo, her present home.
She participates in the coordinated breeding program for Western Lowland Gorillas, helping to maintain genetic diversity. Visitors often comment on her calm demeanor and the playful interactions she shares with her social group.
