Maisha

Maisha was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on January 17, 2016. She lived to 7 years and 10 months of age.

Born at ZooParc de Beauval on February 27, 2008, she was captive-born to parents Sheila and Asato. She spent most of her life at her birth zoo before transferring to Zoo de la Palmyre in October 2015.

Her death was caused by herpes and staph infection. Though her life was brief, she was part of the important Western Lowland Gorilla breeding program in European zoos.
