About Lomie

Lomie was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on May 17, 2002. She lived to 31 years of age.

Born in Cameroon on June 4, 1970, she was wild-caught as an infant. Her parents were both wild gorillas.

Lomie spent her entire captive life at Blackpool Zoo, arriving there on July 4, 1972, when she was just two years old. She remained at the zoo for nearly thirty years until her death in 2002.
