Kumba

Kumba is a male Western Lowland Gorilla deceased (died 2016-01-08). He lived to 42 years of age.

Born in Cameroon (wild-caught) on June 4, 1973.

Parents: Wild and Wild.

His life in captivity began at Zoo Duisburg in 1976, where he spent over two decades. In 1999, he moved to Natura Artis Magistra for three years before transferring to the Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp in 2002. He spent his final years there until his death due to declining health, when he was humanely euthanized.
