About Kuchimba

On 29 June 2002, the Wildlife Conservation Society welcomed a new western lowland gorilla calf. His mother Honi and father Zuri cared for him in the Bronx Zoo’s troop. After five years, a move sent him to the Philadelphia Zoo, where he spent more than a decade. In February 2020, he arrived at Zoo de Granby, where he now lives among a social group of his own kind. At 24 years old, he represents a critically endangered subspecies, Gorilla gorilla gorilla, and his presence helps raise awareness for the species’ plight.
