About Kibi
Kibi was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on August 1, 2014. She lived to 22 years of age.
Born at Howletts Wild Animal Park on May 24, 1992, she was captive-born to parents Shumba and Kijo.
Her life took her from Howletts Wild Animal Park to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in 2000, then to the Gorilla Protection Project at Bat’eke Plateau in 2013. In June 2014, she was released into Bat’eke Plateau National Park, where she died after a fight with a wild silverback just over a month later.
