Kamba
Female Western Lowland Gorilla, born 1972 in Cameroon, now living at Zoo Praha.
Kamba was born in 1972 in Cameroon. Her mother and father were wild, so she entered captivity as an adult. She first arrived in Europe at Zoo Leipzig on 27 June 1974 and remained there for more than two decades.
On 12 January 1995 she moved to Zoo Duisburg, where she stayed until 10 April 1999. A short transfer then took her to Safari Park Dvůr Králové, and she lived there until 13 August 2001.
A brief period at Zoo Praha followed from 13 August 2001 to 14 August 2002 before she returned to Dvůr Králové, remaining there until 24 November 2005. Since that date she has been at Zoo Praha.
In 2026 Kamba is 54 years old and remains a healthy, well‑known resident of Zoo Praha, illustrating the long‑term care possible for Western Lowland Gorillas.
