About Itebero

Itebero is a female Eastern Lowland (Grauer’s) Gorilla living at Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education. Born in the wild in Congo on June 4, 2026, her parents are both wild gorillas.

As a young gorilla, she spent time at Gorilla Doctors Kinigi before moving to her present home at Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education. She has been part of their conservation program since her transfer.

As a wild-born gorilla, she represents the natural population of Eastern Lowland Gorillas in their native habitat. Her species faces severe threats in the wild, making conservation efforts critical for their survival.

As an Eastern Lowland Gorilla, she represents one of the most endangered subspecies of gorilla. Her care at the rehabilitation center supports conservation efforts for her species in the wild.
