Iris

Iris was born on 1 December 1979 in Cameroon. She entered captivity directly from the wild, so both of her parents were also of wild origin.

She arrived at Burgers’ Zoo on 6 June 1984 and remained there for eight years. On 21 July 1992 she was moved to Kolm rdens Djurpark, where she stayed for the rest of her life.

The international gorilla studbook records her under number 862. Although the exact date and cause of her death are not documented, the status field confirms she is deceased.

Her long tenure at Kolm rdens Djurpark contributed to the European captive population of Western Lowland Gorillas.
