Irala

Irala was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on May 12, 2009. She lived to 24 years of age.

Born at Zoo Krefeld on April 30, 1985, she was captive-born to parents Tumba and Massa.

During her lifetime, she moved between three facilities. After spending her first twelve years at Zoo Krefeld, she transferred to Apenheul Primate Park in 1997. Her final move came in 2005 when she relocated to Gaia Zoo, where she lived until her death. She was euthanized due to cancer.
