Ikunde

Ikunde was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young in 1977. She lived for only eight months before passing away from an intestinal infection.

Born at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona on September 24, 1976, she was captive-born to well-known parents. Her mother was Ndengue, and her father was the famous Copito de Nieve.

Sadly, Ikunde died at the same zoo where she was born on May 26, 1977. Her brief life ended due to complications from an intestinal infection, a reminder of how vulnerable young gorillas can be in their first months of life.
