Gino was a male Western Lowland Gorilla whose life spanned multiple zoos across different continents. Born at Royal Rotterdam Zoological Gardens on December 30, 1980, he was captive-born to parents Salome and Ernst. The Rotterdam zoo provided his earliest home and care.

His life included transfers between institutions. He moved from Royal Rotterdam Zoological Gardens to Lincoln Park Zoo in October 1982, where he lived until June 1997. After leaving Lincoln Park Zoo, he was transferred to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Gino’s life came to an end at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, though the exact circumstances remain undocumented. His years in captivity contributed to the conservation efforts for Western Lowland Gorillas, a subspecies that faces ongoing threats in the wild.
