Gaia

Gaia was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on August 3, 2010. She lived for nearly four years.

Born on August 10, 2006, at Gaia Zoo, she was captive-born to parents Irala and Makula. Her entire life was spent at the same zoo where she was born.

Tragically, her death was accidental. Makula, her father, accidentally banged her into a door, causing fatal injuries. She was just shy of her fourth birthday when this incident occurred.
