Enzo

A spring morning in 2006 brought a new member to Kolm rdens Djurpark’s gorilla troop. Enzo arrived on 1 April, the son of Naomi and Efata, and his presence was noted by keepers from day one. His early weeks were spent under his mother’s watchful eye, learning the rhythms of captive life.

As he grew, the silverback’s stature became apparent, and his role within the group shifted naturally. Staff observed his interactions, noting the subtle ways he mirrored his parents’ behaviors. The enclosure’s enrichment program offered climbing structures and foraging puzzles that kept him mentally sharp.

Now part of a critically endangered subspecies, his entire story unfolded within a single zoo. Though his exact date of passing remains unrecorded, Enzo’s time at Kolm rdens Djurpark reflects the dedication of those caring for western lowland gorillas in managed settings.
