Enea

Enea was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on November 26, 2012. She lived to approximately 8 years of age.

Born at Zoo Zürich on November 29, 2004, she was captive-born to parents Mamitu and N’gola. In January 2012, she transferred to Zoo Basel, where she spent her final months.

Her life ended when she was euthanized due to an intestinal infection. Though her time was brief, she was part of the important captive breeding programs that help preserve Western Lowland Gorillas for future generations.
