Edu † is a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died on April 26, 1973. He lived for only 12 days after his birth on April 14, 1973.
Born at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, he was captive-born to parents Ndengue and Copito de Nieve. His brief life ended at the same zoo where he was born.
Edu’s death was caused by infectious acute pneumonia. His short life represents the challenges faced by infant gorillas in captivity during the early 1970s.
