DUR-16-02

DUR-16-02 was a Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Born on April 26, 2016, they survived only five days before passing away on May 1, 2016.

Born at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust as a captive-born gorilla, they were part of the conservation efforts for this critically endangered subspecies. Their brief life began and ended at the same facility.

Their parents were Hlala Kahilli and Badongo. Though their time was heartbreakingly short, every birth in captive Western Lowland Gorilla populations represents hope for the species’ future.
