About Donna

Donna was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on December 14, 2009. She lived to 41 years of age.

Born in Cameroon in 1968, she was wild-caught rather than born in captivity. Both her parents were wild gorillas.

Her life in zoos began at Como Zoo before moving to Columbus Zoo and Aquarium from August 31, 1984 to September 19, 1985. She returned to Como Zoo until November 3, 1990, when she transferred to North Carolina Zoological Park. She spent her final years there until her death in 2009, when she was euthanized due to abdominal cancer.
