Dian

Dian was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on April 21, 2022. She lived to 33 years, 3 months, and 17 days of age.

Born on January 4, 1989, at Burgers’ Zoo, she was captive-born to parents N’diki and Francois.

Throughout her life, Dian lived at several European institutions. She began at Burgers’ Zoo until July 25, 1989, then moved to Zoologisch-botanischer Garten Wilhelma. Later transfers brought her to Münchener Tierpark Hellabrunn and finally to Frankfurt Zoo, where she lived from November 26, 1995, until her death. She was euthanized due to severe pain caused by an eye disease.
