Chato

Chato was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died on November 28, 2009. He lived to 23 years of age.

Born in Guinea on June 4, 1986, he was wild-caught rather than born in captivity. Both his parents were wild gorillas.

Chato spent his captive life at Zoológico de Guadalajara, arriving there on May 16, 1989, when he was nearly three years old. He remained at the zoo for over twenty years until his death from myocardial fibrosis.
