Bubi

Bubi was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who lived briefly at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona. Born on November 11, 1986, she died just six days later on November 17, 1986.

She was captive-born to parents Bimvili and Copito de Nieve. Her father, Copito de Nieve, was the famous albino gorilla who became an icon of the Barcelona Zoo.

Bubi’s death was caused by myocarditis, a condition involving inflammation of the heart muscle. Her short life represents the challenges that can face newborn gorillas in captivity, where infant mortality remains a concern for breeding programs.
