Bioko

Bioko was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died on July 12, 2002. He lived to 22 years of age.

Born wild in Guinea on June 4, 1980, he was later transferred to Zoo Aquarium de Madrid on August 1, 1981. He spent over two decades at the Madrid zoo, where he lived until his death.

Both parents were wild gorillas. His death was caused by an infarct at Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, where he had lived for most of his life after being brought from the wild as a young gorilla.
