Bindung

Bindung was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young in 1977. Born on January 19th at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, he lived only six days before his death on January 25th.

His parents were Bimvili and the famous albino gorilla Copito de Nieve. As a captive-born gorilla, he represented hope for breeding programs at the Barcelona zoo.

Sadly, Bindung was killed by his mother when he was just days old. This tragic outcome, while devastating, sometimes occurs in captive gorilla populations and highlights the complex challenges of gorilla husbandry and maternal behavior in zoo environments.
