BHZ-21-01

BHZ-21-01 was a male Western Lowland Gorilla born on 3 September 2021 at the Fundão Zoo‑Botânica de Belo Horizonte. He was captive‑born, the son of Imbi and Leon, and spent his entire, brief life at the same facility.

His stay at the zoo lasted just under four months. On 26 December 2021 he succumbed to cranio‑encephalic trauma, as recorded by zoo staff.

Although his life was short, the detailed records kept by the institution provide a clear picture of his lineage and the circumstances of his death, offering valuable information for the care of future gorillas in captivity.
