Besseki

Besseki was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young on August 16, 2001. He lived for only 18 months.

Born on February 13, 2000, at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, he was captive-born to parents Kena and Xebo.

Besseki spent his entire short life at the Barcelona zoo, where he had been born. His early death represents one of the challenges faced in gorilla conservation and breeding programs.
