BAR-04-01

BAR-04-01 was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on October 18, 2004. She lived for only five days after her birth on October 13, 2004.

Born at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, she was captive-born to parents Virunga and Xebo. Her brief life began and ended at the same facility where she was born.

The young gorilla’s death occurred just days after birth, representing one of the challenges faced in gorilla breeding programs. Her parents Virunga and Xebo were part of the conservation efforts at the Barcelona zoo.
