BAR-00-01

BAR-00-01 is a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died tragically young in 2000. Born on January 30, 2000 at Parc Zool gic de Barcelona, she lived for less than a year before passing away on January 21, 2000.

She was captive-born at the Barcelona zoo to parents Machinda and Xebo. Her brief life was spent entirely at her birth facility.

Though her time was short, she represents the ongoing conservation efforts for Western Lowland Gorillas in captivity. Her parents’ lineage continues to contribute to the genetic diversity of this critically endangered subspecies.
