Babsi

Babsi was a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on February 2, 2024. She was 52 years and 8 months old at the time of her death.

Born in Africa on June 4, 1971, she was wild-caught rather than born in captivity.

Her parents were both wild gorillas. Her life in zoos began at Tierpark Berlin in 1973, where she lived for over 13 years. In 1986, she transferred to Zoo Leipzig, spending 12 years there before moving to Moscow Zoological Gardens in 1998, where she remained until her death.
