Babalu

Babalu was a male Western Lowland Gorilla who died on March 21, 1978. He lived to approximately 9 years of age.

Born in Guinea in 1969, he was wild-caught rather than born in captivity. Both his parents were wild gorillas.

Babalu arrived at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona on April 7, 1971, where he spent his remaining years. He died at the Barcelona zoo from an intestinal infection in March 1978.
