About Amani

Amani is a female Eastern Lowland (Grauer’s) Gorilla living at Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education. Born on June 3rd, 2026, in Congo, she represents the newest generation of this critically endangered subspecies.

Both her mother and father were wild gorillas. This Eastern Lowland subspecies, also known as Grauer’s Gorilla, represents one of the most endangered great ape populations in the world.

Since arriving at Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education, she contributes to important conservation efforts for her critically endangered subspecies. Her presence at the center helps advance understanding and protection of wild Eastern Lowland Gorilla populations.
