Afanengui

Afanengui is a female Western Lowland Gorilla who died on May 11, 1970. She lived to just 3 years of age.

Born in Guinea in 1967, she was wild-caught rather than born in captivity. Both her parents were wild gorillas.

Afanengui spent her brief life at Parc Zoològic de Barcelona, where she died of hepatitis. Her short life reflects the challenges faced by young gorillas brought into captivity during that era.
